Today's tip

You could have a party serving only bruschette and still please everyone.

Toasted or grilled bread with toppings, in their simplest form bruschette are thickly cut country bread toasted until crisp and golden, then rubbed with a raw garlic clove and brushed with extra-virgin olive oil, or as they call it in Tuscany – fett’unta. Pure joy. Another way to serve bruschetta is topped with ‘nduja, a spicy sausage spread from Calabria.

Any way you slice the bread for bruschette, they are a vehicle for you to express your creativity. The gamut of toppings ranges from fish, to vegetables, to cured meats, fruits, and combinations of any of these. So be creative, but I suggest you keep it fresh, in season, and simple.
