Toasting in Italian

I have been asked the meaning behind the toast I do on my show that’s pronounced "chin-chin.” We are all familiar with "salute" or "cent'anni,” but this slightly less famous toast is believed to have origins with Italian peasants in the countryside; when they drank wine out of wooden cups, they would say “chin-chin” to make the sound of glass wine glasses clinking. While there are some other theories about the origins of this toast, I think this one is the most fun.
