A spritz in Italy is a wine-based aperitivo.
A spritz is a light drink in which club soda or seltzer water is added to a liqueur or wine or a combination of both. Light in taste and alcohol, and quite refreshing, it is also easy to scale up and serve in larger quantities in a pitcher. This refreshing drink is made simply by adding a splash of a bitter liquor like Campari or Aperol to white wine or prosecco (Italian sparkling wine) and topping it off with a bit of sparkling mineral water. Experiment with the recipe and find a balance that is to your liking. Be sure to decorate your glass with a twist or slice of lemon or orange!
